<u>Quote from the first post:</u> A developer friend has submitted his application in the Flash category of 2009 Calling All Innovators Contest.(www.callingallinnovators.com) Now the excitement is too high as we are eagerly waiting for the results that will be declared somewhere in September. Top 10 submissions in all four categories will receive the Judge and #8217;s Choice Award, which provides a one-year membership in Forum Nokia Launchpad. Hoping that this application impresses the judges. Waiting for the result and #8230;...

			<title>Open Source PC games ports to Symbian 9.1/9.2 (4 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38350</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Hi everyone,

First of all, mods/admin please move this thread if it doesn't belong here.
As most of you may know, several old computer games that became open source were ported to Symbian OS 9.x S60 3rd Ed.
The ones I know of (and I currently have) are: Doom, Doom II, Quake, Quake II, Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny, Shadow Warrior. All of these with the exception of Quake and Quake II have been ported by AnotherGuest.

Recently, while looking for the original source code for these games, I came upon a list of other games that were released by their companies as Open Source and that I'm pretty sure they could be ported to Symbian.
I'm starting to learn how to develop games and apps, so unfortunately I cannot do the job myself.

I'm posting below the links I found to get these sources. If anyone is interested and has the knowlegde (maybe AnotherGuest himself? :roll: ) please let us know.
I'm definitely willing to donate as I did for C2Doom (although keep in mi...

			<title>Permanent tracker on web with GPS ? (2 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36320</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> hi,

Thinking about Sports Tracker from Nokia, it would be great to have a program on my E61 that would be able to every time (configurable) reload an URL on my website with current position of phone retrieved of GPS linked in bluetooth with it. It would allow me to display on my website on a google maps my current position.

Anyone interested to do that little program ? or someone knows if it exists already ?

Thanks...

			<title>mws, webwizard or arcanistccg (0 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36215</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> after finding little help available with my planned port for quake, i decided to aim for something smaller, maybe something in java. given the phones of nearly all the people i know are java capable.

i was just thinking how amazing it would be to play magic the gathering like back in the day with the apprentice application and later on with magic workstation (mws).
i did some research and it turns out magic workstation may have been programmed in java; while the evidence is not strong

i have found two other applications for playing card games based on java platforms

one is called webwizard, which is for macintosh based java (but ultimately java right?) and arcanistccg which is a very user-unfriendly app similar to mws written completely in java

could any of these be ported to java capable phones in a reasonable ammount of time?

thank you for your time...

			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36090</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> the source code for quake1-s60 port is opensource

the developer quit the project back in 2006 in the middle of adding 9.1OS support because he didnt have a 9.1 phone of his own

i wonder; given your experience; how much work/time do you estimate it would take to complete his work from a partial n80 support to full support for 9.1os (n93, e60, e61 and e65 especially).

if it can be run in the ngage and the older n70 then it will probably run in the phones i mentioned right?...

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Hello everybody! I hope to get some help here. I would like to have a software or tool which enables me to redirect every call made from my mobile to a certain number, like those mobiles for kids. It may sound strange for you, but I'm a magician and I need this for an effect. I have posted this question on some german forums but nobody could help me. I hope that you are able to help me. Or maybe you can tell me where to ask for something like this!
Thanks in advance....................

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> I'm worried about the safety of my data, if I should loose the phone, but I think the standard locks are too impractical. Obviously the phone should lock on power-off and SIM change, but if you lock it after e.g. 1 min idle, you will have to key in the code hundreds of times each day. However, if the phone is lost, I really whish it to be locked.

We need an auto-start application, which can not be shut down without a password, enabling the owner to remotely lock the phone via SMS, optionally to wipe the memory and display a return address. Similar software exists for both Series 60 and Palm, but for some reason not yet for UIQ3....
