			<title>iCal VTIMEZONE (0 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39565</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> This isn't quite the right forum for this, but I can't think of a better one.

Is the specification for what iCal information S60 accepts available anywhere? I'm trying to help a web developer support S60, but at the moment I'm going by trial and error. He says the iCal files his site generates validate, but at the moment his VTIMEZONE section seems to be stopping S60's calendar from accepting the iCal data, or even opening the files (as tested on my E90 and a colleague's E71). Does S60 just not get VTIMEZONE or is there some syntax that is confusing it? Unfortunately, not having it in breaks Outlook during BST, so dropping the section in toto probably isn't an option. An example of the offending code:

BEGIN and #58;VTIMEZONE
TZID and #58;Europe/London
BEGIN and #58;DAYLIGHT
TZOFFSETFROM and #58;+0000
TZOFFSETTO and #58;+0100
DTSTART and #58;19810329T010000
RRULE and #58;FREQ=YEARLY;BYMONTH=3;BYDAY=-1SU
TZNAME and #58;BST
END and #58;DAYLIGHT
BEGIN and #58;STANDARD
...

			<title>Any recommendations for mShell ? (0 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33408</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Hello,
does anyone have experience with scripting in mShell and can you recommend it?

I plan to do some development of simple applications (mostly on screen text; no graphics, no video) on the E90.
For maximum speed of use, they will be controlled with keyboard shortcuts ONLY.

A scripting environment is fine for me, being able to program directly on the E90 is important.

What do you suggest I should use?
Or more provocatively: Does it make sense for my purposes to look at anything other than Python?

Thank you!

PS: For those curious, mShell (or m-shell) can be found by searching for mshell in my-symbian (it is free)....

			<title>Compile Ruby Runtime (2 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31097</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> I should really be easy as the Ruby Runtime is a working application. But it isn't.

I downloaded and installed everything I could lay my hand on, got my developers certificate, but there still seems something missing.

All I get is:

C and #58;\work\Arching-Scorecard\group\uiq  WINXP  SYMBIAN  Thu 15.02.07 19 and #58;20 and #58;04
 and gt;bldmake bldfiles
BLDMAKE ERROR and #58; Error and #58; When building for ARMV5 platform Compiler RVCT2.2 or later is required.

C and #58;\work\Arching-Scorecard\group\uiq  WINXP  SYMBIAN  Thu 15.02.07 19 and #58;20 and #58;10
 and gt;

I found out about RVCT2.2 - but it is commercial. So is that the end for hobby programming on Symbian or is there a alternative.

The Ruby Runtime itself is still missing some functionally and without being able to compile and patch the runtime it won't be very useful.

So anybody here who could help me out.

Martin

			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> GBasic (scripting language) is a new way of programming for Nokia, Simputer, Laptops, Palm and Pocket Pc programming. Applications created using this scripting language run on all devices mentioned above.

The language is simple as it is a lot like the BASIC language with the same syntactical rules, making it simple to program with the addition of features like event handling, form builder, making it the language of the new generation.

The language is a part of the GoDB tool. The GoDB tool has a form builder, its own IDE, source level debugger and simulators for PALM, POCKET PC, NOKIA, SIMPUTER and LAPTOPS. So the user can view the application in the simulators before deploying them to the actal device.

It has a built-in RDBMS, a micro-browser and a file system, the capability to do incremental sync (of the modified data) between a server and client devices using the connectivity available (Dial-up/LAN/WLAN/GPRS/GSM Dataline etc) with compression option(upto 75%).Since GoDB ...
