			<title>I still need help changing the CDA on my Sony G900 (0 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39896</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> I've tried all the tutorials and guides I can find, but I still can't get my G900 to switch to the firmware Generic World 1. I also can't figure out where my firmware is actually from. According to my phone's system information, the CDA version is 1205-0644 R6K839. The phone has what appears to be 2 different chinese languages on it (although I could be wrong, they look like chinese characters but I know nothing about chinese).

I've used XS++ and Hex Workshop according to the guides I was able to find, but I was never able to get the new CDA version to show up. My gdfs file wasn't exactly like the examples in the guides, and I wasn't sure how to modify it properly. There should be 2 CDA versions listed on my phone if I edited the hex file correctly, but it's still just the old one. I'm extremely frustrated at this point... I have been working on this for hours! Although, I suppose the fact that phone still works is a plus -- I did not manage to break it yet.

If anyone can ...

			<title>G900 phone memory full - help - blackberry connect issue? (1 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39804</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Dear all
I've had a G900 for over a year now, great phone and with blackberry connect is does a great job. Recently though i got an error within blackberry connect, saying cannot get more messages as phone memory full. I checked my phone memory and wow i only had about 2mb left. Ram is fine but its the actually phone memory store that is full. All of my programs are stored on the memory card and i can't seem to find where all the space has gone.
Can anyone recommend a good file explorer so i can see where all this space has gone and also if this is an issue created by blackberry connect. I have a suspicision that despite periodically clearing out emails that somewhere there is huge data store on my phone memory hogging the space. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

			<title>UIQ vs S60 - how touch impacted RAM. (29 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39763</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> So...i was reading N97 reviews, and noticed how low RAM after boot is, compared with s60 v3 devices. The N97, like the 5800, has less than 50mb of RAM after boot, compared with around 80mb on other devices with total 128mb like the N95 8gb

So...going from s60 v3 to s60 v5, and adding touch, caused a dramatic reduction of free RAM.

Let's now remember my beloved SE P1, running the other touch enabled symbian 9.x UI, UIQ3. I had more than 70mb of RAM free after boot.

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Sony Ericsson will open an App Store, according to article at InformationWeek. Excerpt:Sony Ericsson Jumps Into App Store Battle
The company will be teaming with GetJar to enable mobile users to browse, buy, download and install applications over the air.

Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson is getting into the application store game, and it will be opening up so developers can target its mobile phone customers.

The company will team up with GetJar to distribute these applications through the PlayNow service, which already delivers movies and other content to Sony Ericsson phones. Over-the-air application stores are a hot topic in the mobile space, and Sony Ericsson will be joining the likes of Apple, Nokia, Research In Motion, Microsoft, and Google by offering a virtual store for users to browse, buy, download and install apps on a mobile handset.

The fifth-largest cell phone maker will try to emulate the success Apple has had with its App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch, which h...

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Hello to everybody.
My G900 automatically stores incoming SMS into my SIM card. I can manually move messages into inbox (i.e. phone memory). Moving manually each message is really not practical. I browsed all the menues but I can't seem to find a setting. Is there any way to force the phone to automatically save incoming messages into phone memory?
Thank you in advance...

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Apparently the Symbian Foundation plans to replace the S60 UI completely by 2010. The new UI will incorporate Qt (a framework recently acquired by Nokia) and some interface layers called Orbit and Direct UI. While replacing the S60 dumb interface is certainly a good move, it remains a question how much the replacement will remind to UIQ. Source: the blog at symbian.org....

			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Hi all,

I'm in distress! The Touchscreen on my P990i suddenly stopped responding!! I press and wipe and do what I can but nothing happens anymore! :-(

I was on the train using the phone and everything worked, an hour later I'm sitting at a table looking at my agenda and suddenly I realize that hey, the touchscreen stopped working. No amount of reboots have brought it back.

I didn't have time yet to make a backup so I haven't yet tried a master reset but I'm wondering what I can do about it short of ordering another P990 on e-bay -- The phone is just over 2 years old so my warranty has probably expired.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Kind Regards,

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> For those of you who don't know(or arent affected by the issue) with fring running on uiq3 devices( i think all uiq3 but definitely on the p1i as confirmed by a few other users) the phone does not answer any calls from private numbers. With lack of a decent IM or Voip service on the p1i/uiq3 itd be great to have something like this actually working.

Aside from the bug the programs bloody great, and fring developers have given up all support for the uiq3 platform.

Perhaps restartign the phone app after fring starts would help....but this reboots the phone=[. ideas?

thanks

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Hi

Sorry if this is an already posted problem, but excuse me as i am new to installing software etc on phones.

I have just recieved a new M600i, as my dad got a new iphone, so i have his brand new m600i. All the settings are basically factory settings. I went to add a theme about 2 days ago and its added all the wallpaper etc, but i still have the navigation bar on the left hand side of my screen.

Im just wondering how i get the Active Menu (if its called that), the one where you have the icons at the bottom of the screen instead of on the left.

So i need UIQ3 installed?

If so:

Can i install it dircetly ontop of factory settings, or do i need to add something else first

2) Is there any step-by-step instructions for installing the UIQ3 software, as i downloaded some but it just installed to my computer, and i cannot find a way of installing it to my phone.

Thanks in advance
