			<title>WLAN netmask being ignored (1 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39872</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> I've just bought an N800 and am having problems getting the WLAN network set up.

I've created the connection profile, setting the IP address, netmask and gateway via the advanced setting dialogue. Unfortunately it seems to be ignoring the netmask setting - running /sbin/ifconfig from the console shows the correct IP address (10.0.2.16) but wrong netmask (255.0.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0).

Anyone else seen this or have any suggestions on what else I can try? I've already updated the firmware so it should be running the latest OS version (5.2008.43-7)....

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Nokia and Intel announce strategic relationship, see press release. Excerpt:Intel and Nokia announce strategic relationship to shape next era of Mobile Computing innovation

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> So what do you think of Nokia's upcoming N900? :shock:

Everything There Is To Know About Nokia and #8217;s Next Tablet

It seems like a really nice device. My only concern is availability of 3'rd party programs for this device. I was thinking about getting a HTC Touch Pro2 and I know there are tons of software to get for it but now when I found out about the N900 I'm getting second thoughts. If the N900 comes with Firefox 3 with full blown Flash I'm sure the web surfing experience on the N900 will be much better than on a HTC Touch Pro2.

Anyway... looking forward to reading more news about the N900 (which might not be the name for this device).

			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Mozilla has released the first beta of its Fennec mobile browser for the Nokia N810 Internet Tablets, see this blog post. Excerpt:Fennec 1.0 Beta 1
I and #8217;m super happy to announce the first beta release of Fennec for the Maemo platform.

Fennec 1.0 Beta 1 includes lots of great improvements, especially around performance. Starting with this beta, I and #8217;m able to use Fennec as the primary browser on my N810. We and #8217;ve done heavy optimizations to our frontend code and made a number of optimizations to the platform, resulting in greatly increasing zooming speed and making panning pretty smooth. We and #8217;ve also been able to improve startup performance by reducing a good bit of unnecessary work. We and #8217;ve enabled TraceMonkey bringing to mobile the huge JavaScript speed improvements the JIT has brought to Firefox 3.1 betas. A number of performance hotspots have been identified that we and #8217;ll continue to focus on until we ship final and #8211; in ...

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Hi,

I just ordered an N810 online a few minutes ago. I am just curious how the sound quality on the music player is. I know Nokia devices are not too loud comparing to Ipods and other music players. N810 has 3.5mm jack that is great so i can use my Denon and Shure headphones but should I still go ahead and buy an ipod classic( I dont compress my music so i need the big storage, N810 accepts SD cards so i can have more than one=unlimited storage)

thanks

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Nokia has just revealed some details about new Internet Tablet models to be released soon.

I must say that I'm extremely excited about it as it seems that the new models will include everything I always dreamed about:

- HSDPA connectivity, which finally means Internet access everywhere, without using mobile phone via BT
- hi-res camera
- OMAP3 processor, which means much better performance.

It seems that the new model will be an almost PERFECT device!...

			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> I am keen on purchasing an N810, but it has not been released in India yet.
I am aware that there is some mechanism to book/pre-order devices from Nokia.
Could anyone please tell me how exactly this works and where to go on the web to do this?
I visited the Nokia website (both global as well as the Indian regional site), but I couldn't find an option for this anywhere.
Can I do this over the web or do I need to visit a Nokia dealer?
How reliable is this mechanism - anything I need to be careful about?

I have decided that my current E90 will be my last symbian phone. Not that there is something wrong with the phone, in fact I love it. The problem is this abomination called Symbian Signed.I would not mind paying an Alie Tan or a Jukka Silvennoinen, if they decide to charge for the superlative software they produce. But I don't see why I should pay Symbian or any of their associates (some security company whose name I can't recollect) for using the same. I want a free mobile devi...

			<title>My new N810 (0 replies)</title>
			<link>http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36009</link>
			<description>

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Today I got my N810 - my first internet tablet.

I thought it might be useful for prospective buyers to hear some thoughts from a new user. If Michal and the mods are OK with that, I'll drop updates in here as I get used to it.

I bought the N810 because I want a highly mobile full-experience internet solution but don't want to haul about something as bulky as the E90 all the time. I was also attracted by the ability to add new applications at will (for free!).

First impressions?

1) Build quality is solid and it's VERY small and light. There's a little movement in the battery casing and between the keyboard and screen sections but nothing to worry about. The 'stand' is a little primitive but works and protects ports nicely when folded down. The N810 looks good, feels good in the hand and has nice solid switches and buttons.

2) The power button is in an annoying place (top centre).

3) The screen is simply awe-inspiring. I've had several gawkers at my desk already today....

<u>Quote from the first post:</u> Please don't take this as spamming this forum... I only wish to let you know of my blog aimed at the professional user of n800-n810 internet tablets...
