Many people complain about the N900 UI being too "grey-ish" or back&white-ish.

Well, I've been always answeing that Maemo 5 is fully skinnable but having no time to make my own theme so far I could not show this.

With the release of new version of Theme Maker, Urho Konttori also uploaded a sample Fremantle theme made by himself.

So now we can see what can be done.

You may like the new theme or not, it's obviously a matter of everyone's own taste and preferences, but it definitely shows that every single bit of the UI can be skinned. Bars, buttons, sliders, fonts, colours, backgrounds, etc., and also icons and pictograms, which this theme does not change.

So it only depends on creativity and graphic skills of a theme maker and the N900 can be changed into.... anything. Those who love the iPhone will probably soon get a theme that makes the N900 UI look just like the iPhone Razz

OK, and now some screenshots:

(you may need to be registered and logged in to see the images)

So, guys, as you can see, the N900 is not that grey-ish or black'n'white-ish at all. It ONLY depends on a theme Wink

The theme is available for download here.

This theme by the way reminds me of P990 default theme. Or actually or P-series had this kind of colour theme as default...

Anyways, I do not mind the default theme of N900 at all...

I think it´s a nice and elegant theme.

This certainly makes me interested in a Maemo device. But I think I will wait to the next year and see if a new Communicator arrives.

Either Red Pill mode as Michal pointed out above, or use "dpkg -i" from XTerminal (as root).

The theme looks better on the actual device than on screenshots. The colours are slightly different.

Anyway, it's just a theme, and one of the first available. Hopefully we'll soon see much more themes coming, including some really professional ones...
