There has been LOTS of comments in the Software catalog from people not being able to find the listed software (not understanding all the repository stuff, not knowing how to enable additional repos, etc.)

So I decided to make all software available for download directly from here.

For a couple of weeks, I've been working on the Maemo Downloads section, adding all packages listed in the Software catalog.

It is available here:

http://my-maemo.com/downloads/

Around 1040 packages are available at the moment, and the remaining 300-400 apps should be added within a couple of days.

In case of Maemo repositories, I link to .install files. This way it is independent of any version changes, and the install file always points to the newest version.

Also in case of other, 3rd party repositories, I always try to link to .install files.

In case packages distributed as standalone .deb files, I link either directly to the file, to the directory on the server containing it, or to the page containing a download link.

In case of Ovi store apps, I link to Ovi store page.

Within the next couple of days, I will add a warning for files in Extras-Testing, Devel and individual projects that a package is still in development and may be potentially unstable or insecure.

For advanced users, in case of files where I link to the .install file, I will also add an optional link to a directory containing the actual .deb file, so that one can get the actual package if one prefers to manually install it or if one is looking for an older version.

The idea of this site's Downloads is (like in case of the Software catalog) to have the biggest and easiest to browse Maemo downloads, from all sources (Extras, Extras-Testing, Extras-Devel, garage, individual projects, Ovi store, etc.).

If you have any ideas or suggestions of what can be added or improved, please post them here.

WOW....thats pretty mammoth in size of work.

i did notice the last day or so that instead of listing an application as in a repo...it has your my-maemo link.

thats a nice feature.

seems many people are downloading...as even the new nokia fonts already have been downloaded over 250 times!!

This is awesome work Michal. I have an idea on how to improve this but want to see if I can solidify it a bit more.
