No, flashing doesn't touch the memory partition where the security code is stored.

It looks that it does. I've seen someone on Twitter recently describing how to flash the N9 to reset the security code... Please hold on a second, I'll try to find it...

Found it:

Please note, however, that I haven't tried it (no need to) so I don't know if it works and if it is secure to do it...

I think my security code was reset when I flashed the PR1.1 update from a branded(PR1.0) to an unbranded edition(PR1.1) with flasher(linux) and firmware from navifirm. I did not even wipe userdata. Possibly a bug in PR1.0 or my particular brand? I am pretty sure I had to reactivate the code manually. It was not reset when I reflashed it with same PR, same brand though.

Okay, so I never got the Nss Pro approach to work (the computer wouldn't recognize my unit no matter what), and the re-flashing procedure seemed a bit intimidating. I did, however, find a solution. I created an account at traqckand protect, as this does not require you to give the security code. Upon doing this, I could wipe my handset remotely, and after a restart it had returned to factory settings with blank security code. Only one problem: I forgot to back up my photo gallery, so I lost som pictures and movies of my family Sad
