Hi,

I have been struggling with my N900 for the last several months. Messages that I receive dont get saved, cant save contacts or photographs, or access stored music/ video files. Everytime I get the following message

"Unable to send/receive messages. Device storage full. Free user space."

while in reality there is surplus memory, I have formatted the phone, flashed it using the Maemo recommended protocol.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Did you reflash both the rootfs and eMMC? Did you check memory usage on all existing partitions?

You may have plenty of free memory on rootfs, in opt and on the memory card, but your phone may be running out of free space on the /home/ (/dev/mmcblk0p2) partition, which is a separate 2 GB "disk", and it is /home/user/ on that partition where contacts, calendar, etc. databases and most of settings/config files are stored, so lack of space there may result in issues as described by you...

Open the X-Terminal and type

df

and then check free space on each of the file systems listed by that command, especially on /home/ partition.
