I've got a frind who cannot restore his contacts on 9110i.

I seem to rember that there's a problem with 'file in use' or something, that you cannot restore the contacts because the contacts appl. have the file open...

I searched the old 9110 FAQ and Tips&Tricks, but didn't find this described.

Do anyone have a link for a solution of this prob?

Thanks.

Generally, before restoring files you can reboot the device in order to unlock all files. But the contacts file gets locked by the phone application right after reboot. But you should be able to restore contacts with PC Suite, either by synchronising with Outlook or by restoring a text file. But try to reboot the phone before restoring.

Hi Bent,

We tried to reboot, but no luck Sad

The contacts file in the backup tree is 76Kb, but the file in the communicator is only 1Kb, even after a restore that reports success or something...

What do you mean by restoring a text file?

Maybe something is locking this file when data is restored (data corruption?). You could try to reformat the device and afterwards restore the backup.

You can separately import and export contacts and calendar. These are stored as text files on the PC.

But that would require that an export was made while the data was good, and this is not the case, so there is nothing to import from...

We only have the contacts file made by the PC SUITE program in the PC backup location to work with.

There is an alternative method. You could try to backup to a memory card. Then replace the contacts file on the memory card with the one on the PC and afterwards restore this backup (remember to change the .000 to .dat).
