Dear all,
I just bought a new N70. I look into the manual and also in the previous post in this forum but I found nothing related to format the device (and bring it back to the factory default). I mean, on my previous 9300 or P910 it was possible to perform a master reset. Operation that deletes all the installed application, data, settings and so on. I heard that with the N70 this operation can be done using some "codes" like #*__some_numbers_#, but also that there are several different formatting modes. Can someone be so kind to briefly explain to me all this or point me to some URL that better explain?
Thanks really, really a lot.

Diego from Italy

As long as I know, deep/hard format a phone (deletes all of the data on phone memory and get the new one from phone's ROM drive (zSmile) can do it by typing this code: *#7370#, after that, the phone will asking us to enter the phone's 'lock code' (default 'lock code' is: 12345). Works on series 60 dev. such as 3650, 3660, N-Gage, 6600 and 3230.
The other way is by using 'trick three key' but I don't really remember this, maybe other members can help you.

I suppose http://mobile.my-symbian.com/7650/faq/showquestion.php?fldAuto=29&faq= 4 should work, but here's the text from the FAQ:

"How to reformat a Series 60 smartphone if it cannot boot the system?

"Formatting the phone on power-on is only supported by some headsets, including all Nokia Series 60 2.0 and newer smartphones (Nokia 6600 and up). Older phones like 7650 or 3650, or Series 60 smartphones from other manufacturers (e.g. Sendo X) do not support this function.

"To format a phone on power on (useful for phones which are unable to boot the system) turn phone off, press and hold the green (talk) key on the left + number 3 on the keypad + the * key and then turn the phone back on.

"Warning: formatting the internal drive results in ALL DATA being removed. Use this only when you experience serious problems with your device. Do not touch anything during the process! It is recommended to only do it with fully charged battery and your phone connected to a charger to ensure that your battery doesn't run out of juice in the middle of formatting."
