@all:

A lot of people have asked us if we will be developing SMan in the future. The last year or so, Droll and I have been very busy with our day jobs and have other priorities that resulted in SMan being neglected.

Today, nothing has changed... Droll and I are still busy with our day jobs. The whole Symbian signing issue is also a pain and something I do not like nor agree with. That said, I understand why Symbian did it that way and will tell you what I think if you PM me.

What has changed is the fact that SE has now released newer smartphones and I am still getting e-mail from people asking me the "when?" question. With that said, I am happy to announce that that SomeOne (aka AnotherGuest) has agreed to take over the coding responsibility from us. I will do my best to help him do everything else and let him concentrate on the coding aspects of SMan. Droll has too many other priorities and will not have time for SMan in the near future.

I will post updates as they come and hope you will let us work on SMan (in peace... Very Happy) until we are ready to make an announcement. Hope this is good news to all of you out there. Wink

Ajack, Droll, SomeOne/Another Guest,

Thanks for your continuous support & sharing us the update! AG has brought us many goodies, and I believe he'll do it again this time.

@anagarika:

Be glad that SomeOne (aka Lars) wants to do this. If he had said "no", SMan would be dead. Also, Droll is now a proud father (so you can see where his priorities are).

So i'm just trying to get the 1.3a version (which has sources available for it) running on UIQ3. So actually the UIQ2 version is quite clean, and that means I can do some special tricks here and there and make it into a UIQ3 version. Of course not all functionality will be available since APIs has changed, but I will do my best.

.

I think I mentioned that before, but still to remind you: UIQ3 open-source software and tools always welcomes new UIQ 3 related projects.

We got: Bug tracker, (private and pubic) Mailing List, (private and pubic) Forums, Subversion Repository, (no registration needed) Download area, task management and two Wikis.

And - thanks to the wiki and The Buglist
UIQ3 open-source software and tools has quite a high visibility among UIQ 3 users.

Martin.

Still having one sourceforge project to cater for ALL UIQ3 project? Sounds like abit to much, usually projects in this form are cross platform and already have their own infrastructure, like openttd or ScummVM.

You are free to register your own of course.

The UIQ project is there to make things easy for smaller UIQ projects - No explaining SourceForge Staff what you are up to, Wiki already in place etc. pp.

Note that UIQ3 open-source software and tools is No. 4 on the SymbianOS software map (and 707 on the grant total list) while even The Open Screen Capture - a quite important UIQ program - is not even in the top 100 (and 48,244 on the grant total list). I guess most of you did not even know that the The Open Screen Capture has a Source forge project attached.
