We have just released for UIQ3 a composite system utility, called Swiss Manager. Like a Swiss army knife, it is intended to help you access and use your phone better.

Swiss Manager features task and file management services, moreover useful pieces of system information. One may consider it as an essential addition to supplement the built-in features of the new UIQ3 phones.

Due to the lack of a comparable utility and the public demand for such program Swiss Manager is released as freeware. Swiss Manager is downloadable from CellPhoneSoft, My-Symbian and Handango.

The advanced edition, Swiss Manager Pro, is also available, offering many additional features for the professional user.

Update: Swiss Manager Elite replaces SM Pro. The last versions are Pro 1.70 and Free 1.80.

The online/downloadable user guide is in preparation, due to release this week. The icons (buttons) have a tooltip help, activated when you touch them with the stylus. To see the help without executing the command associated with the button, keep the stylus down while moving it away from the button.

I have it installed in my M600i. Why does it state (in the System info tab) the display colour only being 4096 colours? Doesn't the M600i's display have 120k colours?

And what does the Compact Memory function actually do?

In any event, thank you so very much Lisa and the rest at CellPhoneSoft for this very nifty app! Very Happy

The problem with the C: is not consistent and appears to be intermittent. Sometimes it crashes but most times it doesn't. I will try again later to see whether I can reproduce the problem consistently.

4096 is what the OS reports. Obviously incorrect - see also this discussion.

Unlike on UIQ2, the ability of the OS on UIQ3 to do memory cleanup looks impaired - the usual system function for memory compression does nothing. As soon as we work out an alternative, the compression function in Swiss Manager will use that. For now, the End all tasks function works well in terms of maximizing available RAM.

Can you please provide a more detailed description about how to make the app crash. We fix problems as soon as we can reproduce it. Bug reports are welcome also on support@cellphonesoft.com.

@ Lisa

Thanks for your ultra quick response! Very Happy

I will try to reproduce the app crash and let u know if I can work out what to do exactly to reproduce it consistently.

Before I mislead anyone here, I said in an earlier post that the M600i's display has 120k colours. This is a MISTAKE. I meant to say 262k colours. But its strange why the OS reports it as 4096 colours.

Ooops, I forgot one more question, what is the difference between ending a task and killing a task?

Had a quick play and it looks like the app users like me with Vodafone Butchered handsets have been crying out for.
Many thanks for this, now I can actually flush the memory without rebooting the phone, it's two fingers up to vodafone and their inexplicable decision to remove this particular functionality from the built-in Task Manager.
