This little P990 Bug FAQ started here

The idea was to list all the confirmed bugs and later add the firmware in which they are fixed. So we could refer to this and make sure we are talking about the same thing.

The Bug Track FAQ actually moved on and has been integrated in a WIKI, which allows for more cooperation and maintenance.

So for the current BUG Track, please look here:

http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Phones/P990i#Known_Bugs

As you can see the URL is outside the my-symbian domain, but the use of WIKI seems better for this purpose now that most of the Bugs are fixed with the latest R5A17 release.

So please make sure you do the following if you are experiencing "buggy behaviour"

Get the latest unranded FW
Do an internal format and full master reset.
Do not restore with the backup, but do a clean install

***
Before reporting any new Bugs by PM, please make sure you use the latest unbranded FW and did a full master reset.
Not doing a full master reset seems to be the cause for many to experience still bugs which are fixed by the new FW.

Any update to these bugs? Perhaps making this a sticky would be the thing to do?

I have the latest firmware. I found these bugs :

1. The digit '4' can't be entered through pen input !

2. Once you change the wallpaper in FC mode, the default Wallpaper in FO mode is reduced in size and occupies a small area near the screen corner , nothing can be done except 'replace' with new picture then 're-replace' with original theme wallpaper

3. A missed call/unread SMS sometimes not indicated by blinking LED!

4. If the screen is in 'standby blackout state ' in no way you can know that a file has been beamed through BlueTooth

5. Larger pics (>2 mp) cant be used as wallpaper

6. Cannot open a 300kb MS Words file due to low memory! Even after rebooting to gain maximum free RAM!

calling in FC mode shows a cut off picture of some contacts (image is too low as if the flip was open).

Pressing the BACK button (below the answer button) to answer a phone call results in a missed call - this happens way too often (only the C and right button should reject a call).

Yes, I fully agree with that one, I kick it in the list as this was already discussed in the P990 bug thread. Any other "big" bugs not mentioned here, but really bugs discussed in the bug thread let me know here or by PM.

As ares said the original idea, is not to create yet another bug thread, we already have one Mr. Green

Very fast what comes to my mind:

*Ability to disable the sound and the vibration alert for the SMS delivery report
*The bug when the DELETE is not available when you go from the FC to the FO mode.
*Built in browser cannot display the very popular Greek web-site www.contra.gr
*In FC mode when you type an SMS and you are in "Aa" type mode the first letter after the period is not capital
*Major stability problems and kernel bugs

Dont know if this has been reported. When moving pictures taken by the camera from phone to Memory Stick after the move the pics are still being displayed as thumbnails in the original location.

Can we just use the bugs thread for posting and discussing bugs and let knuff update the first post as a ref for all users and not as a seperate thread in its own right. To this end I will make it a sticky.

IF THERE IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE IN THE FIRST POST THEN PM KNUFF

I think I found another bug

I have a NOKIA MMS Observation camera, when I set it up (when I'm not at home for example) this camera detects any motion and sends me a MMS message with pictures (.JPG) of the cause for the motion. It also works in complete darkness as it has a night vision camera. It also sends the current temperature and other information attached to the same MMS message.

So at the weekend I was out , and my camera started sending me pictures on my P990, when I check the pictures, all the pictures had errors and all I could see is green, blue, yellows lines on all pictures.

So when I went home, I restarted the camera , but the pictures were still faulty. So I tried with my P910 and pictures showed perfectly fine, I also forwarded the faulty pics to my P910, the forwarded faulty pictures were viewed correctly on the P910.

So this is clearly a fault with the viewer of P990 needs fixing.

Also: this camera also sends information attached to the MMS message such as Current Temp, images to be taken etc. These texts are shown as Square boxes on my P910 and P990 , but it's eligible with my P900, P800 and other make cell phones... So somehow P990 and P910 can't understand the text that Nokia is sending them...Strange huh ???????

Hi,

I fully agree with STS, SO LET´s SET SOME RULES AS I GOT ALREADY QUITE A FEW PM´s and I THINK we are on a different level.

Here are the Rules:

1. POST YOUR BUGS in THE BUG THREAD HERE

The best place to discuss your bugs, newly discovered or still outthere since day one.

2. MAKE SURE SOMEONE WITH THE LATEST RELEASE CONFIRMS THE BUG.

Please make sure your bug is confirmed. Quite a few times someone discovers an annoying bug, that actually works fine for someone else. Those we will not stick inhere.

3. IF IT BECOMES A POPULAR BUG, PLEASE CHECK IF IT IS HERE AND IF NOT PM ME.

Please PM me the killer bugs that confirm to point 1 and 2 and are not yet listed here. Saves me of browsing pages and pages of bugs Mr. Green

3. The idea for this thread is to list the KILLER bugs to start with.

4. Only unbranded confirmed BUGS, so sorry no branded BUGS for the time being.

5. Please post the direct URL to the bug in the PM. You can do that by rightclicking on the white icon in front of every post. This helps me with the reference.
