I have just received the E90 with updated firmware. Current version: V 07.17.3.0 26-04-2007.

I haven't checked much yet but here's what I've found.

Good news:
- the GPS now works as it should. After turning the updated E90 for the first time, it got fix in about one minute. Then (e.g. after switching the phone off and back on) it only takes 10-15 seconds to obtain fix every time. Wow!

Bad news:
- no A2DP. I could pair it with my A2DP headset but it can't connect.

I really don't understand the logic in Nokia removing this. I know this is primarily a business device but why remove a feature that adds significantly to the desirablity of a phone - especially when this has been mentioned on a number of sites as being present on this phone previously

The E90i might be out by November, not long after the E90!!!!

Surely Nokia would not remove features just to differentiate between the business/non business phones, that would be silly.
Maybe they are having problems with the bluetooth part of the firmware and are simplifying it until later.

Absolutely agree. To be honest, I have absolutely no use for bluetooth stereo headsets. Just another damn thing with a battery that I will have to lug around a charger for. Got about 30 devices like that already. However, if Nokia are going to leave A2DP out, it was a bit silly to put it in the prototypes. For those people who want it, it's going to build up their hopes, and then leaving it out will just seem like a marketing ploy to make sure all their devices are differentiated in some way. Makes them look a bit cynical, that's all...

Really? I thought it'd be about a year to 18 months off. You think it'll be this year?

What is the source of this info, that an E90i will appear in fall 2007?

Edited and corrected to year 2007 - sorry!

Well I'm very disappointed with the lack of A2DP (my upgrade path is skipping P990 from P10i, tempted towards the E90 by the keyboard, internal screen and video /camera quality). The GPS is definitely an add on for me (I'm old school when it comes to navigation - I like to interact with my surroundings using a paper map and 'read the gound').

If the facility is there they should make it available, it comes back to the arguement of what the E90 is about, is it:

1) A device witha strictly limted shelf life without a secure and transparent route for carrying over your data

2) A well thought out piece of technology offering the best possible solution and flexibility of use to which one develops loyalty and invests time in (ahh those 5mx days..).

I suppose the decision to move to S60 has been the main factor that has shaped which philosophy the E90 has been based on (choice one above), but surely Nokia would be keen to foster that loyalty by at least ensuring they present the best possible package to the market!?

Go on Nokia... that's what firmware upgrades are for! Twisted Evil

PS: Never considered scheudled SMS before joining this forum but stronlgy convinced by the arguements for it... add it to the list please Nokia

i am really disappointed to see such a useful feature removed....
i mean, given the size and weight of the device it would be very useful to be able to have it in your pockets without having to connect a wired headset to listen to music...

i think i'll have to choose another device... i'm so disappointed
i really hope thet will implement it in final versions, even though i doubt it
