Hi,

What are the steps needed to play (and/or convert) .wmv and .mpg files from the PC so that it plays on the E90 ?

What software(s) do I need ? (Does it come bundled?)

How can I adjust the video size to best fit the internal screen of the E90 ?

Cheers,

E90Nokia

Nokia Video Manager: http://www.nokia.com/A4370009

eRightSoft SUPER: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER

You can adjust the videos by choosing a suitable resolution/aspect ratio with whatever converter you end up using

Supported audio and video formats/codecs you can find here:
http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/resources/technologies/audiovideo/

Click on the "Audio & Video Feature Tables" link. Except for screen resolution, assume E90 = N95 = S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1.

E90Nokia,

I had the 9300 and 9300i. What I used to play movies which maximized the widescreen of the Communicators was SmartMovie (http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=smartmovie). They have an S60 3rd Edition version so I assume it should work for the E90. Definately check it out at least.

Take Care,

Nitun

I also used Smartmovie converter for S80 (9300i) and S60v3 (on E61) and the Smartmovie program for playback. Works well. I have version 3.2 but this does not support the "large" format of the E90. Supposedly the newer versions should do so.

So what resolution do you think is suitable for the movies? Can the E90 play smoothly at 800x352 (maybe pretty big file sizes) or would it be better to run at 400x176. What do you thnk?

The best performance can be obtained @ 400x176. The quality won't be much worse but the video will be playing really smoothly. The same thing applies to the N800 tablet where recommended resolution is 400x240 (the screen is 800x480).

The E90 supports Flash Lite 2.0, which does not support Flash Video.

FLV is not supported by the E90 (and any other Flash Lite 2.0 device). FLV requires Flash Lite 3 which is not out yet.

It looks like we are going to see Flash Lite 2.1 in the S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 devices before we see Flash Lite 3.0 as indicated on the following page:

http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Flash_Lite

The E90 is based on the S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1. So Flash Lite 3.0 won't be implemented in the E90 unless Nokia changes its plans.

Hey Guys,

Can someone with an E90 please test the video playback from YouTube's new mobile site m.youtube.com?

According to them, the video should play in 3GP format (which would probably be Real Player).

Thanks,
-Daniel
