| I'd like to be able to edit html pages on the E90 and then to upload them. Is this at all feasible? Just editing the html would be useful, even if ftp is not possible.

Both are posible. I do this from time to time, using LightNotepad and then SiCFTP.
I find it better to use putty and vi connecting directly to the web server, but both methods work fine and all the software involved is free.

I dont have a need to edit html files on my phone, but I work with remote servers frequently.
If you want to edit files on your phone itself, you could do what snatcher has said : Use LightNotePad and SICFTP. vi and putty is also a good choice , since you may get some syntax highlighting as well.
Or you can use DEdit (another text editor) and SICFTP.
This is the combination that I usually use when i have to edit offline.
If you have XPlore from Lonely Cat Games, you can use it's editor too.
There is another option , a tool called Mobile HTML editor: http://www.symbian-skin.com/catalog.asp?tags=Editor
I wouldnt rank it high in terms of usability though.

Thanks for replies. I have LightNotepad, which works well with html, but I can't get SiCFTP to work. It seems not to save the password for my site.
Anyway at least I can already update html pages on the move.
I'll try putty & vi altho these need a bit of setting up, so I'll post later...

Cant' see what I'm supposed to do with putty, so grateful for brief tip of what to do. I know how to configure an FTP client, but how does SSH connect to FTP?
TIA

| Sorry, I think some unnecessary assumptions were made. Putty is a way to edit files on server, and to do this you need to have access to login remotely over ssh. Based on what you have said, i think you are dealing with an ftp server only, so i suggest you stick to sicftp.

That is the case. I'll see if I can eventually get the sicftp to work, and I can edit the files now, which is half the battle.
I have sicftp version 1.00, dated 2006-7, and wonder if there is a newer version available....
Many thanks again

Hello,
I am curious, Active Notes wouldn't help in this case I take it?

Active Notes does in fact store its files as HTML files. But as an HTML editor, it has very limited functionality.

The strange thing is that sicftp works now, although I did nothing different.
You have to have files in internal memory C if you want to transfer them, since the program won't read extra memory E, but it's free so no complaints at all.

| It works fine from E: for me, although changing the path is in a strange place, under view I believe.

| Yes, it does. Go to View, then change path and choose phone memory or whatever you have called your memory card. Thanks for pointing it out.
