hi there,
did this happen to any other E71-user:
when I leave my E71 turned off from say
evening til next noon.. when I turn it on
it displays the date from then "yesterday"!
btw, is there no E71-firmware-thread yet?

hi
Yes, I have the same issue. I've got my date and time on 'Auto Operator update' but I've noticed that if I turn my phone off in the evening then back on in the morning, sometimes the date sticks on the day before. Really strange...

This seems to be quite right. Must be fixable in FW. Biggest danger is if you have crucial alarms set to wake you up and you have a period of 'downtime' and then don't notice when you switch back on that the date is wrong. Arghhh!

I very very seldom turn my phone off but its a good job its been mentioned as i would have never thought something like that would happen.
Cant believe how long the E71 has been out without a single firmware update, their has got to be one coming up soon.
To be fair though I've had a hell of a lot of new release nokias over the years and the E71 probably has less faults than most for a first edition firmware.

| no way would I want to disable Auto Updates of the time. I travel a lot over different time zones and therefore find this feature very useful. would prefer simply to never turn the phone off...

Do you have by any chance a workday alarm set?
I found some references on the web that using a workday alarm is maybe a general problem with the S60 (3rd edition ?) platform.
I had the same problem with my Nokia N81 and now with my E71. It doesn't matter if I use operator time update or not.
My workaround is to use an every day alarm and disable the alarm on Friday (after it goes of) and enable it again on Sunday (before I switch my phone off).
Since that change, I never had a problem anymore with the date and switching off the phone.

I don't use automatic time update from my operator..
it doesn't happen every time i turn off my E71.
The last two days worked fine.. I don't know why though.

Maybe I was a little bit unclear.
Here is an example of what I meant in my last post:
If you have set a workdays alarm let's say Monday to Friday and you switch off the phone, then the date switching (and of course the alarm) works fine Monday to Friday.
But on Saturday and Sunday (when there is no alarm) the date is wrong (time is OK though).
This happens only if you switch off the phone. If you keep it on, the date is OK (That's at least what I found in my tests).
