Phone: 9300i

PostPosted: Tuesday, 20.Oct.2009 10:42    Post subject: Wrong symbols appear on pressing with Shift Key   Reply with quote

I am using a newly bought used Nokia 9300i with the original 5.50(0) series firmware

i am getting the wrong symbol on the screen versus what is printed on the keyboard when used with Shift key
For example i have to press the Pound symbol to get @
Most of the other symbols are also wrong
The normal alphabet keys have no problems

Is there any method to correct the same

Thanks

Maybe the phone has been flashed with another language version of the firmware than the keyboard layout. But first you should reformat the device as described in How to reformat the device.

You first have to check if a reformatting of the device will solve the problem. If yes, it indicates you have the same language version of the firmware and the keyboard layout and the problem was due to some data corruption. If not, the language version of the firmware has been changed and thus does not match the language version of the keyboard layout.

REFORMAT THE DARN PHONE!!!

that is the only way.

if you just got it, it is not going to hurt anything, and you cant really mess it up anyway..

by reformatting it is just going to wipe the drive and take the unit back to factory settings.
