is there a way to make it so that the flash does not do a "double flash" making everyone always close thier eyes or move becuase they ALL think that the picture was taken with the first flash?

it uses the flash to focus and then once focused, it flashes again, and then it flashes a third time when actually taking the picture.

yeah sure, you can tell an adult to hold still, but every picture of my kids has closed eyes now, or a constant blurr...

That usually happens if red-eye reduction is on. Is that the case?

no. red eye reduction is off. when i have it on, it does a multi flash before rather then just a double flash.
