Hello guys,
I installed some map files on my N900 via Ovi Suite and now Maps does not launch anymore.
Before I installed the new map files, I would tap the application icon. Maps would launch, indicated by the loading icon in the status bar next to the name Maps and a black screen. After a few seconds it would show the Maps loading screen.
If I tap the Maps icon now, all that happens is that the same thing happens (Maps being loaded in the status bar above a black screen) for a few seconds and after that it just goes back to the Desktop. It's like a program that quits itself.
I am running Maemo Version 20.2010.36-2 which I believe is the latest version of the system software. I also installed a few other non-Nokia apps from maemo.org. Could any of these affect the proper execution of the Maps application?
When I connect my device to Ovi Suite and try to download maps it says:
Code: |
Can't find maps on your device
Nokia Ovi Suite can't open the map folder on your device.
To fix this, disconnect your device and open the Maps application on your device. Let Maps run for a while to let it reset itself, then close Maps and reconnect your device.
If this doesn't help, the problem may be caused by one of the following reasons:
- We're sorry, but the Nokia Maps application isn't available for your device.
- The maps and voice guidance files on your device are broken |
I've tried the first suggestion, disconnecting my phone and reconnecting it (in both Mass storage and PC Suite Mode) but that didn't work. I hope I don't have to reset my phone and erase everything?
Any help would be greatly appreciated since the offline maps feature was one of the main reasons for me to choose this device (that and the physical keyboard and the stylus).
