The new update to opera allows the use of the meego keyboard but if used there is no way of getting it to dissapear again. IT stays on and I cannot find away, without closing opera, of making it go away like the opera keyboard does.

Anyone else got the same problem?

That is great. After PR1.1 and Swipe I stopped using opera completly just because I didn't like opera's own keyboard. Unfortunately I don't have any answers for your problem.

Another way of saying, "You can have the MeeGo keyboard but you can't use it.

In order to close the keyboard, you have to press the "Cancel" button in the upper-right corner of the keyboard. So the keyboard works properly in the new Opera Mobile 12.00.2.

nope, doesnt work on mine. I press cancel and it stays on. I have it set to opera keyboard "never" but I am wondering if having mesinput installed may cause problems.

I have the same problem, and on top of that I can only have the native keyboard in landscape mode (even if the page is rendered in portrait mode)
I tried to delete .config/operamobile-labs, and reinstalled the application.
So far no solution :/

PR 1.3

anyone who has this problem please list the PR you are running. Im on PR1.3 and think this may be the problem, especially if others have it working ok.

The keyboard works on my N9 with PR 1.3 (I have product variant 001 with one of the Northern European product codes). Maybe the problem occurs with some of the operator specific product variants.

Mine is an Astralian non branded variant on pr1.3. Going to uninstall mesinput and the keyboards and see if that helps

I don't have mesinput, so I don't think that will solve the problem.

I guess everybody knows by now, but for the sake of completeness the devs response (from maemo.org) :

Quote:

Hi folks,

The native keyboard option wasn't supposed to be there, since as you can all see, it doesn't work properly. A new build is on its way that disables it again.

We're currently trying to figure out how to get "classic" Qt widgets like QTextEdit (i.e. no MeeGo Touch or QML) to play nice with the native keyboard, but it'll probably take a while.

/ohrn

According to the same thread the native keyboard is only removable if it is not the swype keyboard.

Opera Mobile Labs 12.00.6 has been released. I get a download error just as I did with Firefox 13.0. It is not possible to install this new version by tapping in Filebox on the following file:
    /var/cache/apt/archives/partial/operamobile_armel.operamobile-lab s.FAILED
So something is wrong with the installation file.
