Hi,sorry for the stupid question but,how to remove john, when i type in terminal:
Quote:
/home/user # dpkg -P john
(Reading database ... 22762 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing john ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/john.prerm: line 18: /usr/share/john/cronjob: not found
dpkg: error processing john (--purge):
subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 127
Optifying usr/share/doc/john -> /opt/maemo/usr/share/doc/john
mv: cannot rename '/usr/share/doc/john': No such file or directory
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
john
/home/user #

What to do from here, maybe delete everything witn john from /var/lib/dpkg/info/ and try again,or have to edit or delete /var/lib/dpkg/info/john.prerm: line 18.This file exists "/usr/share/john/cronjob" in the same directory, but I do not know what to do with him.I try with "dpkg --configure -a" but no result

regards

edit:Solved problem,just remove /var/lib/dpkg/info/john.prerm and again
apt-get remove john*
and problem is disappear

If you get errors like this one, you can go to /var/lib/dpkg/info/ and delete files with the name of the application you want to remove and extensions like .prerm (pre-removal actions), .postrm (post-removal actions), etc. and then you can re-try to uninstall the application.

This way it will leave some application files and/or folders on the device but it will remove the application.

Or, if you want to do it in a nicer way, instead of deleting the .prerm, .postrm etc. files, you can open them in some editor and just remove from them the lines pointing to the missing files causing the errors, i.e. in case of this package delete line 18 from john.prerm (the one calling the cronjob)...
