"TAIPEI—HTC Corp. 2498.TW -1.33% is developing a mobile-software system specifically for Chinese consumers, people familiar with the project said, part of a big bet that the smartphone maker hopes will help revive sliding sales." 350.html?cb=logged0.36887387675233185

Apparently an effort to make some inroads in the Chinese growth market and to cater to the specific wishes of the Chinese government. ating-system/[/quote]

So HTC is a new participant in the parade of shortly to be released phone OS-es.... I wonder who else will follow.

It looks that some companies are predicting that people slowly get bored with Android and iOS. Just like a few years ago they got bored with Symbian while it was still dominating the market. People periodically need a change... I guess that for exactly that reason some people have been buying Windows Phones, even though they actually do not offer anything that Android or iOS would have...

If only instead of everyone trying to create his own OS multiple companies gathered around one project, we might enjoy a new popular mobile platform in a not so distant future, and then watch iOS and Android slowly fade away like Symbian did (eventually finished off by Nokia itself).
