Hello!

Here is something I have been working on lately. While not particularly useful, it might be fun for somebody. Feedback appreciated.

Cheers,
Marko

Water 1.0

Water application simulates a small volume of fluid on your device. It is meant to be fun, relaxing, or simply a tech demo. It is a Smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) simulation implemented in OpenGL.

Installed without problems, works like a charm! Nice and smooth. Especially the 'liquid' visualization, looks really amazing. And all these options.... I'm just exaperimenting with different values. Fantastic!

I hope you'll get some donations.

Marko, thank you for your hard work. Native applications is the way to go for Jolla. I hope that we can see more native applications for Sailfish in the near future. The most important task for Jolla is to bring support for paid applications.

Fun! Would be nice if you could see the water flow in the minimised app too!

Since the simulation burns through the battery with its high GPU utilization, I figured it would be better to pause everything when minimized to avoid unwanted power drain. I wanted to put a (static) screenshot to the minimized icon, but couldn't find any quick way to do that.

Well it seems a little bit dull when minimised. And the app is just fun to wach and play around with. Maybe it could stay active for a short time after minimising? Or it could be activated for a short time with a gesture like the MeeCast app?
Also it occurred to mee that it would be be fun of you could make the water splash by tapping on it.

I just feel it would be more fun if you could see the water bouncing around in the minimised icon. Maybe it could be made to stop when the phone Goes to sleep and be activated for a couple of seconds when it is activated.

You could even think of making a paid version with extra functionality.

You are planning to sell yours via PayPal, arnt you? Good idea! Why not set up shop here?

Must be ways around this shortcoming of Jolla, everyone is setting up a webshop these days.

Yes, but not because I like the idea but because I'm kind of forced to do it due to the phone manufacturer (as the only phone company on this planet) not supporting paid apps. Selling apps yourself you won't sell a fraction of what you'd sell via an official app store (which has a 100% reach as every user has it), and you'll have to deal with all the tax bureaucracy yourself (per each individual sale) which may turn out to be not worth the hassle if on such a small platform you'll only be earning a few bucks from app sales and then you'll have to spent hours filling tons of tax papers/invoices/whatever. That's why I'm still hesitating. It definitely isn't as easy and nice as it may seem.

I can understand your hesitation.

I dont think it is usefull to think of Jolla as a phone company. It is infinitely smaller than anyting else out there. Better to think of it as an experiment.
