Hi all,

Finnish company Lastu seems to be one of the first companies to produce hardware specifically for Jolla phones.

They make quite beautiful looking LastuCase case for Jolla from wood and leather.

I don't know why they do not make a cover that protects the phone in ALL directions (on the photos it looks like only front and back are covered), but I really like the design.

I received my LastuCase a few days ago.

It's really quite beautiful, and the impression of quality is also very good.

Practicality is not quite as good as I was hoping for, though:

The leather screen protector does not have a sharp bend at the edge.
This means that when the cover is closed and the phone lies flat on a table, screen facing up, the cover does not lie flat on the screen but points up in something like a 20 degree angle.
This is not a big problem since I need the protection mainly when the phone is in my pocket. It will protect the screen fine then.

But due to the same reason, the leather top does not lie flat on the back when you turn the top all the way round.
No problem to open it and have it laying on the table open (left side leather cover, right side phone), but when you turn it the whole way the phone will lie in an awkward angle.

Taking the phone out of the pocket, opening the cover and using the phone to e.g. read or type a message is fine when using the right hand.
Using the left hand, the cover really gets in the way, and you have to first turn the cover ALL the way to the phone's back before using it - with the problem mentioned before that it does not lie as flat on the back as some other cases do.
The same is valid for actually making a phone call - you don't want the leather flapping around in front of your eyes while holding the phone to your ear, so you have to turn it around completely.

The Case includes a white "Other Half" so it nicely connects to the phone main body.
This makes it great looking, not like most cases making a phone much more bulky.
On the other hand, you can't just take the phone out of the case easily when you feel the leather flap is in the way for what you are trying to do at that moment - you would basically open the phone, having the battery exposed.

I should probably post some photos to show what I mean.

Still, also with these downsides, this is really a BEAUTIFUL phone case - probably the nicest one I've seen so far on any phone.

EDIT: Photos added

Just a little update after 4 weeks: the leather cover is becoming more flexible after a while.
This makes the bending radius better when folding the cover to the back of the phone, e.g. to make a phone call.

Lying flat on a table with the screen side facing up, the cover still does not lie flat on the screen, but actually I've come to find it is actually more practical to have the cover open when the phone lies on the table - because otherwise you can't see the notification light any more, making you need to open the cover from time to time to see if you have got a new sms, e-mail etc.

I'm still very happy with my LastuCase, maybe even more than in the beginning.

The only situation when the case still is a bit (not very) annoying is when you use the camera, as you need to keep it open in 180° angle because it must not cover the camera on the back, but also not the screen on the front side.
