PostPosted: Monday, 22.Feb.2016 11:40    Post subject: [Solved] Wifi Configuration on Nokia 9300i   Reply with quote

Good Morning,

I used to have a Nokia 9300, but that was stolen a couple of years back. Yesterday I noticed a 9300i in my local CeX store and purchased it, since I love the phone, and I'm bored of most modern phone offerings (I also broke my existing phone so had none).

I spent most of the night trying to get wifi setup with no luck, however when I got into work today I noticed the 'W' icon appear for the first time, and it's actually detecting some wifi networks. I'm figuring this isn't a setting or anything wrong on the phone, but more something wrong with my router's wifi configuration at home.

Does anybody know what frequencies and bands e.c.t. the 9300i supports? And does it not detect wifi networks with a WPA-PSK/WPA-PSK2 passcode? Should I try change my router to WPA/WPA2 instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated Very Happy

The Nokia 9300i supports 802.11b/g (the 2.4 GHz band) and WPA/WPA2. It does detect networks with WPA-PSK/WPA-PSK2 passcode.

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply.
My router is on 802.11b/g/n and has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz active, but nothing is detected by the 9300i. Do I have to change the router to just 802.11b/g?

Many Thanks

The 802.11n will likely cause problems due to higher bandwidth than 802.11g, so it will be a good idea to change your router to just 802.11b/g.

That worked perfectly, changing the router from 802.11b/g/n to just 802.11b/g has allowed my phone to detect and connect to the network successfully. Thank you very much for your help.
