How to connect to your internet DSL connection through Bluetooth on your P800:
1) Download this Java browser and install it on your P800 http://www.reqwireless.com/webviewer.html
2) Set up your bluetooth connection on your PC and P800. Make sure that the bluetooth icon on your P800 shows that you're connected.
3) Open the reqwireless WebViewer while you're connected to bluetooth and VOILA, off you go surfing the web for free. Normally when you use the WebViewer you should see a GPRS icon at the bottom of your phone, but now you don't, which means you're surfing the web through bluetooth and your PC's internet connection!
Try this little trick out folks, and let me know if it works for you too!
I tried this trick with the built in browser in the P800 as well, but it connected me to GPRS no matter what. You need the browser to accept a dummy-access point to make this work(which the Java browser does), but my P800 browser recognises my operators GPRS settings every time it seems. But I'll keep trying and let you all know if I figure a way around this!
Cheers
Raven

| It should also work with MSN and TipicMe etc, but I haven't tried that yet...

This is common for all midlets. If Bluetooth (or even USB) connection is on, midlets use it instead of GSM/GPRS connection.
You don't even have to use Bluetooth. It is enough to place your phone in SyncStation connected to a computer with active Internet connection.

| Hmmm, ok thanks. So do you think it will be possible with the built in browser too? Have you tried setting up a dummy-access point and connect it to your PC?

For me it seems that this works for midlets ONLY. I tried this with built in browser, but with no success.
Anyway, I only tried it once, so maybe it can be done. Anyone wants to try? I don't actually need it because with P800 in my network I can access full Internet (WWW, downloading files etc) via WAP access point while I only pay 2,5 USD/month for WAP over GPRS without any additional transfer charges...

You are lucky. GPRS in my country(Norway) is damn expensive. And I cannot browse the real web nor download big files through my WAP account, I have to use GPRS INTERNET for that.... I guess I spend about $150 each month on GPRS alone.

In 7650 and all other phones supporting WAP <= 1.2 I also have to use GPRS Internet access because WAP gateway restricts Internet access to WAP pages only. But this no longer applies to P800, which supports gatewayless WAP 2.0 (at least until my operator knows this and limits it somehow). At the moment, as P800 doesn't care about the WAP gateway and its limits, I have full access to the Internet via WAP And I hope this lasts forever. 2,5 USD a month for full Internet access is my best Christmas present

| Great news!!! So it seems that P800's Access points have "higher priority" than Bluetooth or serial access and if P800 doesn't find GPRS access point it uses Bluetooth or serial connection instead. The only sad thing is that deleting Internet access point everytime you want to use your PC's ADSL and then creating it again can be a little bit uncomfortable.

Hello Rave1
I tried what you said but still when I want to browse using the built in browser it asks me to create an internet account.
Can you be more specific about the steps I need to take to make the browing work.
Thanks.
Moshe

Hi Moshedgani,
One way is to delete your WAP ACCOUNT SETTINGS as well, but if you don't wanna do that you just have to do some tweaking to make it work.
OK, I have a little weird rituale I do. Now, this may seem strange and perhaps there is an easier way, but it works every time!
1) Configure your INTERNET ACCOUNT SETTINGS again and use GPRS to download 1 page in the built-in browser.
2) Delete your INTERNET ACCOUNT SETTINGS.
3) Open up your WAP ACCOUNT SETTINGS, take a quick browse through those settings and hit DONE.
4) Open up the browser and there you go surfing through Bluetooth!

Hello,
if you seriously want to use this trick for bluetooth browsing, you can ease the pain of reconfiguring the internet settings by requesting them from your friendly operator and leaving the auto-setup message stored in your messages.
That way, the settings can be restored with a few clicks.
Sony Ericsson also has a configurator for various services, at least WAP and MMS - didn't find one for just an internet connection, however (each has different GRPS settings with my operator)!

Trick: You can use the web browser to browse e.g. the c: and d: disks
set open page location to file:///c:/
not very useful, but anyway...

Errrr this is kindof awesome. I also have a very cheap gprs wap subscription, tried to reach internet sites, and it works Probably the cheapest net in the world, costs about 1$ for a month... I'm curious how long will they allow this.
