miniGPS brings positioning functionality to your Nokia 7650/3650... without specialized GPS hardware! The application reads area and cell ID codes provided by GSM network and allows storing them in its database along with your own description. Furthermore, miniGPS allows configuring events for each cell ID - for either logging in or logging off.



Uses? Plenty! First of all, you can give each cell your own description, independed of information provided by Area Info (cell broadcast) service. miniGPS reads Area Info text and displays it for your convenience with each new cell, but you can easily replace it with your own, more meaningful description. This makes miniGPS a handy tool in networks with Area Info service and a must in case of networks without such service.



But the most essential funtionality of miniGPS is in its support for custom events. Current early beta version allows switching profiles or setting alarms for either logging in or logging out of a given cell ID. What does this mean? You can for example:

• set miniGPS to automatically activate your "Work" profile as soon as you get close to your work place and switch the phone to any other profile everytime you leave your work
  
• automatically switch the phone to "Silent" profile every time you visit a hospital, church etc. and then activate your normal profile
  
• if you often travel by train or bus, you can set miniGPS to alarm you when you are approaching the destination point of your journey - you won't miss your stop even if you fall asleep
  
• and many more!

Final version also supports some further functions like sending SMS on log in/log out or exchanging cell data between phones.
