EasyStreetView is a Google Maps client for Qt-based smartphone platforms, focused on, and optimized for, quick StreetView access and usage. Easy to use and small (only 25 kB).

Unlike in other clients, you don't have to switch back and forth between the map and the street view if you want to change location, no need to drag and drop the Pegman, either.

This application provides both the map and the street view on one screen. Simply enter an address to find the desired location and show it on a map, then just tap on a street/place you want to see and... that's it - a marker will be shown on the map and street view will be displayed.

EasyStreetView for Symbian

The map and street view are integrated with each other - you can switch to a different street anytime just by tapping on different area on the map and street view will change instantly. As you move on the street view, the marker moves on the map, too, always showing you the current, exact location. At the bottom of the screen, on the task bar, you can always see current location's coordinates (latitude and longitude) and current heading (direction you're facing on the street view). The map and street view can be zoomed in/out, panned and rotated independently. You can switch the map between street and satellite view.

EasyStreetView for Symbian

Obviously, this application can show the street view only for locations which street view imagery exists for. If you tap on a street or place where street view panorama is not available from Google, the marker will not be shown and a short vibration feedback will be generated to let you know that this location isn't Street View enabled.

EasyStreetView uses Google's Geocoding service to translate addresses into map locations, and Google Maps / StreetView APIs to show the map and street view. It requires Interent connection. The program supports both portrait and landscape orientation.

@ neil: thank you for your comment, and I'm really glad that you like this application. As for memory consumption, it is solely due to Qt WebView's awful memory leak in Qt on Symbian and Harmattan, i.e. a SYSTEM BUG, not an issue with the application itself. Unfortunately, as Nokia dropped their support for Symbian and MeeGo, they won't ever fix it, and there is nothing else that can be done by the developer on Symbian or the N9 to solve this problem. WebView simply leaks memory as you use it, in this and any other application, it's just that while showing simple and lightweight content it is not noticeable while in case of heavyweight mapping and streetview content passed through it it becomes apparent way quicker. P.S. A much enhanced and improved version of EasyStreetView is ready but after Nokia stopped supporting new realeases and updates in their Ovi store there's currently no way to offer an upgrade for Symbian and N9 users... [No rate]

This is absolutely the best way I've found to view Google maps on my n8. Easy, intuitive. Can cover distances quickly, then get right in there with street view. Only issue I'm getting in Anna, and it's a big one, is gobbling up lots of RAM. I start with 127MB free, (fresh boot), then after about 10 minutes in this app I'm down to 25MB. At that point street view won't load, then the maps stop filling, then the app shuts down, and my Free RAM jumps back up to 95MB. All I've done in that time is visited 2 addresses, gone to street view at both, hopped along the road 100 meters....done. Bit limiting. Never had RAM issue like this before. Only other app open is S60 Manager. Gonna persist with it tho, it's that good. Now I need app to clear RAM. [Rate: 8/10]
