Announced in November 2003, the Nokia 7700 was used only for piloting of mobile media services with key industry partners and is not commercially available.
Nokia 7700 is the first Nokia phone with a touch-sensitive color screen, which is also the largest ever available on a Nokia handset. Series 90, the development platform the 7700 is based on, is a complete and feature-rich development platform providing an excellent environment for media consumption, mobile services and a true Internet experience. Included in Series 90 is an intuitive new touch-screen graphical user interface based on a 640x320 pixel screen with 65536 colors. The UI features interactive onscreen components, such as handwriting recognition and an Onscreen/Virtual keyboard, enabling the user to control a device with a stylus or hardware keys. The 7700 also features customizable skins, allowing users to easily change the entire graphical look of their device.
Other features of the Nokia 7700 include a VGA camera (640x480 pixels), FM Radio, EDGE high-speed data transmission and MMC card slot for storage memory expansion. The 7700 weighs 183 g and its dimensions are 134 mm x 79.5 mm x 22 mm. Nokia 7700 features a 150 MHz ARM-9 based CPU, 64 MB operating memory and 80 MB internal storage memory for user data and applications.
As already mentioned, the 7700 is not commercially available. It was replaced by Nokia 7710.
