Arima ASP805 - First impressions

Arima is a Taiwanese manufacturer that only recently licenced the UIQ platform. The ASP805 is their first Symbian OS / UIQ based smartphone.

Arima ASP805 is based on the Symbian OS 7.0 and the UIQ 2.1 platform. It is the first UIQ smartphone using the "clamshell" type casing, with small "window" outside showing part of the usual 208x320 pixel, touch sensitive screen hidden inside the casing.

The ASP805 is a tri-band (900/1800/1900 MHz) phone with GPRS and Bluetooth support. It is equipped with 1.3 megapixel video camera and supports user memory expansion with MMC/SD memory cards. The phone is powered with a 1000 mAh detachable & rechargeable Li-Polymer battery.

The phone is expected to be available in Q4 2004.
